What is the Circle of Excellence?

Demonstrate your professional success by enrolling in the MMLA Circle of Excellence (COE) program.  This designation will serve a dual purpose — it will tell the world that you are accomplished in your profession and it will put you on the path to achieve even more.  Completing the Circle of Excellence program gives you a sense of accomplishment, sets you apart within your field and earns you respect from your peers.  But most important, those who have done so tell us over and over again that they really use what they have learned, day in and day out, and they have advanced in their careers as a result.

The MMLA “Circle of Excellence” designation program is designed to provide a tool for consumers to identify a mortgage professional who demonstrates knowledge of the mortgage process and a commitment to quality.  The designation attests to consumers within Michigan that an individual has met minimum requirements to be a knowledgeable residential mortgage professional through education and testing and has made a personal commitment to continuing their education. The designation also recognizes the individual’s active participation in the MMLA.

Application Process

The only pre-requisite to enrolling in the COE program is to be an individual member of the MMLA.  Any MMLA member can complete the application at any time.  Once your application is submitted, you will be entered into the COE database and issued an ID number and program instructions.  There is a $79 application fee and the application form is on the reverse side of this document for your convenience.

Please note:  Only registered applicants’ points will be tracked by MMLA.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to sign-in at MMLA events in order to get proper recognition for participation and course completion.  You will need to submit evidence such as a certificate of completion to MMLA to verify education points that have been earned through CampusMBA or Mortgage U.

Testing

Applicants are eligible to take the Mortgage Knowledge Evaluation once all 12 points (6 Participation/6 Education) have been earned.  Although MMLA will attempt to watch for applicants that have earned all 12 points, it is ultimately up to the applicant to notify MMLA when they have reached this goal.

All applicants must take the test in an environment that requires them to rely on their own knowledge without the use of internet, manuals, cheat sheets, note pages, co-workers or any other assistance.  The applicant will need to assign a person as a ‘proctor’ who will certify that the test environment meets these requirements.  The applicant is given a Proctor Certification that must be completed and returned to MMLA.  MMLA will then issue an email to the Proctor with the link and password for the test.  The applicant must have an overall score of 75% or higher .  If the applicant fails  the test then he/she is allowed to retake it a second time within 30 days of receiving the first test results at no additional charge.
