As the political environment continues to charge forward with primary elections next month and general elections in November, the MMLA be hosting a special virtual Town Hall on August 5th with two special guests to discuss current housing and financial services legislation/reform in Washington DC.  With assistance from the MBA, we are happy to announce these speakers:

Senator Gary Peters represents the State of Michigan in the U.S. Senate. Throughout his career, Gary has been a strong, independent voice for Michigan’s families, workers and small businesses. He has focused on uniting our communities by fighting for the things that we all agree on — a stronger economy, good-paying jobs, quality and affordable health care, a secure retirement and a fair chance for everyone to succeed.  In the 116th Congress, Gary serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the Joint Economic Committee. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008 and was a member of the House Financial Services Committee.

U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga represents Michigan's 2nd Congressional District. Huizenga was first elected to Congress in 2010 and is currently serving in his fifth term.  As a member of the prestigious House Financial Services Committee, Huizenga has focused on removing government-imposed barriers to private sector job creation and increasing transparency across the federal government. Because of his steadfast leadership, Congressman Huizenga has been selected to serve as Ranking Member on the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee for the 116th Congress.
